Foot Care for Growing Kids

Healthy Growth, Confident Steps

Children’s feet and ankles change quickly as they grow. Common concerns include flat feet, in-toeing or out-toeing, heel pain from growth plate irritation, toe walking, warts, ingrown toenails, and sports injuries. Early evaluation helps separate normal development from issues that need treatment and prevents small problems from limiting activity.

Your visit includes a gentle exam, gait and posture assessment, footwear review, and, when helpful, imaging to check bones and growth plates. Care plans are tailored to your child’s age and activity level and may include activity modification, stretching, strengthening, balance drills, shoe guidance, protective padding, and custom or prefabricated orthotics to improve alignment and reduce pressure.

Education and prevention are part of every plan. We coach on proper nail care, sock and shoe fit, gradual training for young athletes, and strategies to reduce overuse injuries. When a structural problem or persistent pain is present, we discuss next steps and coordinate care to support safe play, healthy growth, and confident movement.
