Advanced Foot and Ankle Wound Care
Chronic foot and ankle wounds need prompt, coordinated care to prevent infection and protect mobility. Your visit includes a thorough exam of wound depth and tissue quality, circulation and nerve testing, imaging when bone or foreign body involvement is suspected, and cultures when infection is present. We identify contributing factors such as pressure, friction, edema, blood flow, and blood sugar control to build an effective plan.

Treatment focuses on removing nonviable tissue, controlling bioburden, and restoring a healthy healing environment. Options may include sharp or enzymatic debridement, moisture-balanced dressings, antimicrobial therapies, offloading with total contact casting, removable boots, or custom inserts, and compression for venous disease. When needed, we coordinate vascular evaluation, prescribe antibiotics, and use advanced therapies such as negative pressure wound therapy or skin substitutes to accelerate closure.
Prevention begins on day one. We provide footwear and pressure-redistribution guidance, glucose and nutrition support, daily foot check education, and a clear schedule for follow-up. For high-risk patients, we set a maintenance plan with routine nail and callus care and quick access for any new concerns so you can heal safely and stay active.
